Science fiction films and other futuristic visions have captivated our minds with extraordinary concepts of what the future might hold. These narratives inspire desires for things we can only dream of, and today, scientists are striving to transform some of these dreams into reality. While some of these futuristic concepts have proven to be practical and beneficial, there are instances where scientists are pursuing ideas solely because they were inspired by movies, not necessarily because they are entirely feasible or functional.

NO.1: FLYING CARS

Flying cars have been a long-standing dream for many, with some believing we should already have them today. This expectation often stems from a curious mix of cinematic portrayals and the enthusiasm of a few scientists. However, it's essential to recognize that fantasy doesn't always translate into reality, even with advanced technology, and the concept of a flying car may not be as practical as it seems.

The primary issue with flying cars is that they inherit all the challenges of helicopters without offering significant advantages in return. While they can take to the skies, this hybrid nature is their sole distinguishing feature when compared to conventional helicopters, which are purpose-built for flying. If a flying car lacks suitable landing areas, it may not justify its ability to fly. Conversely, if it has consistent access to suitable landing spots, it might not need the "car" component. The introduction of flying cars could lead to congested airways, necessitating air traffic control, increasing the potential severity of accidents, and making licenses harder to obtain, which further diminishes their practicality.

NO.2: PUBLIC TRANSIST SYSTEM

The concept of self-driving cars emerged with Google's early experiments, and as car manufacturers recognized the public's interest in this technology, they began their own endeavors in the field. Companies ranging from Ford to Tesla are actively working to develop their versions of self-driving cars, continuously advancing the technology. However, despite the progress, it seems that the goal of truly autonomous self-driving cars remains elusive. Even limited self-driving functionalities face numerous challenges during testing, and the general public remains skeptical about the safety of these vehicles, despite self-driving cars often criticizing the skills of human drivers.

The primary obstacle to the widespread adoption of self-driving cars is the skepticism of regulatory bodies. Studies suggest that without a significant breakthrough, fully autonomous self-driving cars are unlikely to become a reality in the near future. Self-driving vehicles struggle to adapt to unforeseen circumstances in the same way a human driver can. In essence, if we were to rely entirely on self-driving vehicles, we might as well transition to an all-encompassing public transportation system, which tends to be more energy-efficient. This approach is already being implemented in parts of Southeast Asia, where a quarter of public transportation is driverless.

NO.3: BRAIN IMPLANTS

Neuralink is a topic that stirs strong emotions in most individuals. Some find the entire concept intriguing and are eager to embrace it, while others are apprehensive or even fearful about its implications. Regardless of one's stance, there's no denying that Neuralink represents cutting-edge technology, fulfilling a vision that many had pondered, even if it carries some disconcerting elements.

However, as the development of such a device nears reality, concerns once seen as mere speculative worries are turning into alarming realities that should give us all pause. To begin with, it's important to remember that Neuralink, being an electronic device, requires power, typically relying on lithium-ion batteries due to the current lack of better alternatives. If such a battery were to leak, it could potentially lead to severe tissue damage in the brain, the consequences of which are difficult to predict and likely dire.

Even more disconcerting is the potential for the chip to be hacked. While it might not have the ability to directly control your mind, the implications of this possibility are rife with dreadful scenarios and consequences.
